• Audio Video Home Theater Systems.  These super sound systems need the best of everything to do the job right. RCA jacks and High end F and RCA compression connectors and HDMI cable and even an HDMI switch all connect the system components together. HDMI cable, if your system is equipped with a plug for this can eliminate so many other RCA styled cables. nd super sound systems. Special networking cable and bundled cable are used in these systems. Components like S-Video jacks that have UTP on the back (see below.) Also don't forget the MINI RGB cable with 5 wires for Audio and Video.     
   
• BANDWIDTH - Bandwidth Expressed in MHz. Higher bandwidth capacity the more data. Look at bandwidth as the width of a highway and the data rate (mbps) as the number of cars that flow. Widen the highway and you can have more cars.
  
  Basic Link - this is the permanent part of the cable run. The basic link extends from the Wall Jack Outlet to the patch panel in the TC. A test can be made using expensive testers of this basic link to see that it meets the electrical requirements of Category 5 low voltage cabling. Up to 90 meters of cabling.
  
  Channel - The channel is the entire cable run or end to end from the patch cord at the workstation to the end of the patch cords coming out of the patch panels etc. in the TC. (The total length of the equipment cords, patch cords and jumper cords is 10 meters.) 
  
• BOX ELIMINATORS 
  Box eliminators or sometimes called cheater boxes, are special boxes that allow you to fasten the Jack wall plate to sheet rock walls. Absolutely NOT used for electrical work. 
  

• BULK HEAD CONNECTORS

• CAT5e Cable  Category 5e cable and  jacks are the new standard for cabling today. This has replaced category 5 and is the cabling of choice. When adding to a cat 5 system use category 5e instead. Category5e Cable - 4 Pairs of color coded UTP solid copper cable twisted in various layers. (The patch cords are usually stranded cable). Category 5e cable and Category 5 cable are both Rated at 100 MHz used for network cabling. Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) is designed to  operate over a frequency band of 100 MHz, the same as 100BASE-TX. Also, to ensure compatibility, both 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T are designed to utilize the same spectral distribution.
   
• CAT6 Cable - Category 6 cable takes it to an even faster level.
   
• CCS - Copper Covered or Copper Coated Steel. This is used in the manufacture of cable to be more cost effective. Instead of solid copper which is becoming quite expensive, copper coated or copper covered steel is being used and the core conductor.
  
  
• COMPUTER CABINETS or EQUIPMENT CABINETS - equipment cabinets and wall mounted equipment racks and  Server Racks and 4 post racks and server cabinets (see server racks below), this is where the equipment is housed. Things like a patch panel or keyboard or server or routers and many components that are used in networking. Shelves and accessories to mount the equipment all make for a neat, clean and organized environment. 
   
• FACE PLATES - Face plates or wall plates are used to mount the jacks into the wall. They can be one port or opening or several ports. Usually you cut these into the walls using wall boxes made specifically for this purpose or use box eliminator (cheater boxes). The face plate and surface mount boxes work in a similar fashion. The surface mount box can be used instead of a face plate to mount the jacks, (category connectors or voice jacks) into. 
  
  
• FACE PLATE INSERTS or Pop-in inserts. Shown above as bulk head connectors. One in the same, these are used to pop into the face plate or surface mount box. They sometimes can be blanks that are used in a face plate to take up a blank spacer rather then leave a gaping hole. Or they can be F connector inserts for passing through from the back to the exposed front of the face plate with the cable. (or RCA connector inserts, Speaker Binding post inserts or fiber connector inserts).
