There are lots of ways to go when you install multi pair cable. Some considerations are weight and use. 1 Cat5e as opposed to 1 25 pair cable has a considerable difference in weight. If is easier to pull one cable then to pull a 25 pairs. Weight is one thing. If you are looking for future expansion and need more station ability then 25 pair might be the answer. Indoor use or outdoor use should be another consideration before you choose the cable you need. Use only outdoor listed cable for outdoor use. Know the difference between riser and plenum and pvc non-plenum cable.

If you are running building to building underground then burial cable is the consideration. There is Gel filled and non gel filled types. Cat3 cable is geared toward phone or voice and is 16MHz rated. Cat5e is for data and also can be used for voice, this is probably the better choice because of it's versatility. If you are not a professional installer you need to know certain things that a pro would know. Like how to get the cable into a building from the outside and lighting arresters and check the local and national building codes.

Inside a building you have other considerations. One thing is the patch panel you use or the cross connect arrangement.
